Ethics Policy
The People Society & Management Review (PSM Review) adopts a policy of ethics and quality in its publications.
Confidentiality
The editor and editorial staff are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the information in the submitted manuscripts. This information should only be shared with the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial consultants, and the editor as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
The editor must obtain the express written consent of the author before using unpublished information for his or her own research. In addition, the editor should avoid evaluating manuscripts in which he or she has conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other connections with the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the papers.
Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations
The editor should respond promptly to any ethical complaints related to submitted manuscripts or published articles and take appropriate steps to address such issues.
Reviewers' Responsibilities
- Input to the editor and author: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and can provide the author with objective guidance with clearly presented supporting arguments to improve the article.
- Initiative: Reviewers should inform the editor, if they feel inadequate, to review the work or if they are unable to perform the review within the stipulated time.
- Confidentiality: All manuscripts received for review should be treated as confidential information.
- Source Acknowledgment: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and report on any substantial similarity or overlap with other known articles.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: It is critical that reviewers keep insider information obtained during peer review confidential and avoid using this information for personal benefit. In addition, reviewers should refrain from evaluating manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other connections with the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the articles.
Authors' Responsibilities
- Reporting Standards: Authors of original research reports have a duty to present an accurate account of the work performed, which should include an objective discussion of its relevance. It is essential that the underlying data are accurately represented in the article, providing sufficient detail and references to allow replication of the study.
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and, if they use the work and/or words of others, they must cite them appropriately. Plagiarism, in all its forms, is considered unethical editorial behavior and is unacceptable.
- Multiple Publishing: The practice of multiple publishing, in which authors present essentially the same research, in more than one journal or primary publication, is considered unethical publishing behavior and is not acceptable. This includes the simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals or the publication of the same article in different journals.
- Font Acknowledgment: Proper acknowledgment of fonts is critical. Authors should cite publications that influenced the reported work. Information obtained in private, such as in conversations, correspondence, or discussions with third parties, should not be used or reported without the explicit written permission of the source. The same applies to information obtained during confidential services, such as manuscript reviews or grant applications, which should not be used without the explicit written permission of the author of the work involved in those services.
- Authorship of the Article: The authorship of the article should be attributed only to those who had significant contributions in the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the study. Everyone who has had relevant contributions should be listed as co-authors, while other people involved in important aspects of the project should be acknowledged or listed as collaborators. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring the appropriate inclusion of all co-authors and the absence of inappropriate co-authors in the article, ensuring that all have reviewed and approved the final version of the work before submission for publication.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Peer review and the credibility of articles depend on the proper management of conflicts of interest between authors, reviewers, and editors. Conflicts may arise when personal, commercial, political, academic, or financial interests influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts. Authors should disclose possible financial or personal conflicts when submitting their papers, while reviewers should communicate to editors any conflicts that may affect their evaluation. In case of doubts about conflicts of interest, authors may contact the journal's editorial secretariat.
Editors' Responsibilities
- Independence of Editorial Decisions: The editor must ensure that editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial considerations.
- Peer Review: Articles should be peer-reviewed to ensure the scientific quality of the publication.
- Compliance with Ethics Guidelines
